TutRank –
rankings that
actually mean something.
TutRank is Tutcart's transparent scoring system for tutors, classes and institutions. It combines verification, outcomes and experience data to rank at district, city, state and national level – without pay-to-win ads.
Used across TutSearch, Tutcart dashboards and future institutional rankings.

RisingLeague tables were built for marketing, not for learners.
Most education rankings and "top tutor" lists are either pure marketing or based on very narrow data. TutRank exists to fix that.
Pay-to-win visibility
- Ads and boosted listings appear higher than genuinely better options
- New but excellent educators rarely get discovered
- Parents and students can't distinguish quality from budget spend
Narrow or opaque metrics
- Rankings built only on brand recall, fees or exam results
- Hardly any view of safety, diversity, retention or student happiness
- Methodology is hidden, making rankings hard to trust
One list for everyone
- A small coaching centre is compared directly to a large university
- No separation between local and national context
- Learners don't see "best near me", only generic lists
TutRank is our attempt to build rankings that are data-driven, multi-level and genuinely learner-centred.
One scoring system, many use-cases.
TutRank is an internal score that every eligible tutor, class, centre and institution carries inside Tutcart. It powers search results, badges, recommendations and – over time – public leaderboards.
Search & discovery
- TutSearch uses TutRank to decide which tutors and centres appear first
- Results ordered by query relevance and location
Badges & highlights
- "Top in your district", "High-trust tutor", "Rising academy"
- All backed by TutRank's data, not vanity labels
Institutional rankings
- College, university and programme rankings
- Look beyond just brand and cut-offs
Insights for educators
- See what's helping or hurting your score
- Improve with real actions, not payments
Signals that go beyond stars and ads.
No single metric can capture quality. TutRank blends multiple signal groups and weights them differently for each domain.
Verification & safety
- Identity and KYC completion (TutVerify)
- Background checks or references where applicable
- Absence of serious misconduct or safety flags
Teaching & outcomes
- Class completion and on-time rates
- Repeat bookings / average retention of learners
- Exam performance or skill improvement where data is available
Experience & reliability
- Review quality (contextual feedback, not just star averages)
- Refunds and dispute patterns
- Responsiveness to queries and support
Fit & relevance
- Match with subject, level, location and budget of a search
- Mode (online/offline/hybrid) and type (academic, sports, arts)
- Availability windows that actually work for the learner
All signals flow into
Note: TutRank's exact formula and weights evolve over time as we learn more and protect against gaming. We share the signal categories publicly, and we never sell "better rank" placements.
Local first, then state and national.
A brilliant football coach in one district should not be invisible next to a national-level brand. TutRank scores at multiple levels so context is always preserved.
District
Hyperlocal view for parents and learners choosing nearby tutors, centres and academies.
City
Compare options across your city, with filters by subject, domain and price band.
State
View institutions and academies within the same boards, exams and regulatory environment.
National
For mature categories with enough data, surface truly exceptional tutors and institutions across India.
As data grows, TutRank will power queries like "Top 10 maths tutors in South Delhi" or "Best STEM programmes in India for under ₹X per year" in a structured, explainable way.
Where you'll see TutRank in action.

Fair by design. No shortcuts, no "pay to rank higher".
Rankings can easily become a tax on visibility. TutRank is engineered to avoid that.
No paid boosts inside TutRank
Sponsored placements, if we ever offer them, will be clearly marked and kept separate from TutRank-based ordering.
Explainable inputs, tunable outputs
We disclose the main signal categories and allow institutions to see what's driving their score.
Protection against gaming
Anomaly detection on reviews, attendance, results and complaint patterns. "Too perfect" patterns can reduce rather than increase trust in the score.
Appeals & corrections
Tutors and institutions can raise a support ticket if they believe their data is incorrect. Verified corrections update the score.
As TutRank matures, we plan to create an advisory group of educators and data experts to review methodology for key categories.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can we influence TutRank by paying for ads or a higher plan?
No. TutRank does not accept payment inputs. Plans and ads may give you access to more features or visibility in clearly marked areas, but the underlying ranking score is based on verified data and behaviour.
Is TutRank a replacement for national rankings or accreditation?
No. It is a complementary lens focused on day-to-day quality, outcomes and trust on the Tutcart platform. Over time, we may collaborate with regulators or independent bodies where appropriate.
How do you prevent tutors from gaming the system?
We combine multiple signals and look for patterns over time. Sudden spikes in perfect reviews, unusual attendance logs or results can trigger additional checks and reduce the trust weight of that data.
Can a new tutor or centre ever rank highly?
Yes. New profiles start with a neutral score and can gain rank quickly through strong verification, consistent performance and high-quality feedback. TutRank also balances exploration (new entrants) with exploitation (proven performers).
Will my TutRank score be public?
Initially, most scores are used internally for ordering and recommendations. Over time, some metrics and badges may become more visible, especially for institutions that explicitly opt into ranking programmes.
